With three days to go before the legislative elections of 23 September 2026, the SNRT is strengthening its editorial operation. The public broadcasting group is mobilising its television channels and radio stations to cover the different stages of the vote.
For several weeks, teams have been preparing coverage tailored to the campaign, election day and the announcement of the results. The operation mainly involves Al Aoula, Tamazight TV, National Radio and Radio Amazighe.
SNRT 2026 elections: four channels on deck
SNRT has adjusted its programming to the different phases of the electoral process. The plan also takes into account the Kingdom’s linguistic and cultural diversity.
Newsrooms are following party activities, their rallies and the appearances of their representatives in news bulletins.
The official campaign runs from 10 to 22 September 2026. Voting will take place on Wednesday 23 September.
Coverage is provided within the regulatory framework that governs political parties’ access to public audiovisual media.
Airtime allocated according to clear rules
The airtime granted to political parties is not based on free editorial scheduling by the media.
A lot draw held on 23 July 2026 determined the order in which political parties appear on air. The 27 parties concerned were divided into three groups according to their representation in parliament.
The first group has 21 minutes, split into three seven-minute slots. The second group has 15 minutes, while the third has nine minutes.
Public broadcasters also plan coverage of campaign rallies. The length of these reports varies according to the group to which each party belongs.
This framework stems in particular from Decree No. 2.11.610 on the use of public audiovisual media during election campaigns.
HACA oversees audiovisual pluralism
Election coverage is also governed by the framework set out by the HACA. On 16 June 2026, the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication adopted a new regulatory decision devoted to pluralism in political expression during election periods.
The text lays down rules on access to the media, allocation of speaking time and representation of different components of society. It also takes into account women, young people, Moroccans living abroad and persons with disabilities.
HACA has also incorporated into its framework the new challenges linked to disinformation and electoral content generated by artificial intelligence.
Programmes dedicated to election issues
SNRT’s coverage goes beyond campaign statements. Its channels also offer programmes dedicated to the key stakes of the ballot. Debates and analysis shows give the floor to political figures and various experts.
From August onwards, the programme “Nokta ila satr” devoted a special debate to the issues at stake in the 23 September elections. The show tackled questions of trust between citizens and parties, the renewal of political elites and how to respond to social and economic transformations.
Stepped-up coverage on 23 September
Election day will be the high point of the operation. From the opening of the polls, SNRT teams will be deployed in different provinces of the Kingdom. The channels will offer news bulletins, reports and live link-ups from several regions.
The stated aim is to follow the voting process and report on the atmosphere in the different parts of the country.
In the evening, Al Aoula, Tamazight TV, National Radio and Radio Amazighe will each provide special programming dedicated to tracking the announcement of the official results.
Coverage will continue the following day with special editions focused in particular on analysing the results and the new political landscape.
SNRT extends its operation online
Election coverage will not be limited to traditional broadcast channels.
SNRT will also rely on its digital platforms to deliver election-related information to connected audiences. This online presence complements the operation rolled out on television and radio.
As 23 September approaches, the mobilisation of the public group is entering its final phase. The four channels are expected to support voters before, during and after the vote, within the regulatory framework set for this election.
The 2026 legislative elections will elect the members of the House of Representatives. The vote will take place on 23 September across the entire national territory.
