Morocco weather 3 October 2026 will be marked by inland heat, storms over the mountains and fog along parts of the coast, factors that matter if you are travelling or returning home this weekend.
Morocco weather 3 October 2026: inland heat to plan around
According to the General Directorate of Meteorology, conditions will remain fairly warm to locally hot over the inland Souss region and the Saharan provinces.
Fairly warm weather is also expected over inland Gharb, the Tadla and Rhamna plains, as well as the south-eastern areas.
Minimum temperatures are forecast between 24°C and 29°C in the Saharan provinces and inland Souss.
Elsewhere away from the mountains, night and early morning lows will range between 19°C and 23°C, something to keep in mind if you land late or very early.
Fog and low clouds along Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts
If you are landing at coastal airports or driving along the Atlantic seaboard, you can expect more humid conditions.
Low clouds with drizzle or fog patches are forecast:
- along the Atlantic coasts and plains,
- and along the Mediterranean shore.
These foggy conditions may reduce visibility at times in the early morning or evening. They will affect approaches to cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Kenitra, as well as Tangier and Nador.
For Moroccans living abroad who take the road at night from the airport, allowing extra travel time remains wise.
Thunderstorms over the Saiss plain, the Rif and Atlas mountains
Morocco weather 3 October 2026 will be more unstable over the mountains and nearby areas.
Thunder showers are expected over the Saiss plain, the High Atlas and the Middle Atlas, as well as on their eastern slopes.
Showers and storms are also forecast over the Rif and the extreme south of the Saharan provinces.
These episodes are typical for the season but can surprise drivers who cross these areas, especially in the afternoon.
In the Atlas and Rif ranges, minimum temperatures will be cooler, between 7°C and 12°C, a strong contrast with the plains that is worth anticipating if you combine city and mountain during the same trip.
Strong winds and dust: extra care on some roads
The General Directorate of Meteorology also expects moderate to fairly strong wind gusts over several regions.
The main areas concerned are:
- the Tangier area,
- the Oriental region,
- the Atlas ranges,
- and the Saharan provinces.
In some places, these winds will raise blowing dust, reducing visibility, particularly in the south and the Oriental region.
For Moroccans returning home and driving rental cars or coaches, extra caution is recommended on these roads.
Sea conditions for travellers arriving by ferry
For those arriving or leaving by sea, conditions will vary along the coasts.
The sea will be slight to moderate in the Mediterranean, and slight in the Strait of Gibraltar.
However, it will be moderate to rough between Casablanca and Boujdour, and slight to moderate on the rest of the Atlantic coast.
Before taking a ferry, especially to or from Tangier or Nador, it is useful to check the latest updates from your operator or through the official meteorological or relevant administrative portal.
Overall, Saturday 3 October should remain suitable for travel, provided you plan for inland heat, storms over the mountains and reduced visibility due to fog or dust on some routes.
