Moroccan group AKDITAL opens its first hospital in Riyadh

This update focuses on AKDITAL Riyadh hospital. Moroccan private healthcare group AKDITAL has taken a major step abroad with the official opening of its first international hospital, AKDITAL Hospitals Al Olaya, in the heart of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

AKDITAL Riyadh hospital, the group’s first international foothold

In a statement dated 7 September, the group announced that it had received authorization from the Saudi Ministry of Health to operate its Riyadh facility. The AKDITAL Riyadh hospital thus becomes the group’s first hospital outside Morocco, after building a network of 45 healthcare facilities across 25 Moroccan cities.

The hospital is located in Al Olaya, a central and busy district of the Saudi capital, and is already fully operational, welcoming its first patients.

A large private hospital in Al Olaya

AKDITAL Hospitals Al Olaya covers more than 17,600 square metres and offers 140 beds. The facility includes over 50 specialized care units, supported by a comprehensive technical platform.

Key announced infrastructures include:

  • a medical imaging and diagnostic centre,
  • 11 operating theatres and intervention rooms,
  • more than 30 intensive care beds,
  • an emergency department with 18 beds.

Medical specialties include cardiology, oncology and haematology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, dialysis and diabetology.

Women’s health is a core focus, with a maternity unit, delivery rooms and services dedicated to fertility treatment and in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

What does this change for Moroccans living in Saudi Arabia?

For Moroccans living in Saudi Arabia, the AKDITAL Riyadh hospital brings an operator they may already know from Morocco into their country of residence. Those who have been treated in the group’s clinics back home may see it as a familiar option for private care.

In practice, this new hospital may be of interest to:

  • Moroccan families based in Riyadh looking for a full-service private hospital,
  • people with chronic conditions (cardiology, diabetes, dialysis) needing structured long-term follow-up,
  • couples seeking fertility treatment, including IVF and assisted reproduction.

Key practical details — prices, agreements with local insurers, and admission rules for non-Saudis — will have to be checked directly with the hospital, once information is available on its official channels.

An investment aligned with Saudi Vision 2030

The this case is only the starting point. The group has announced an ambitious expansion plan in Saudi Arabia, with investments of 5.3 billion Saudi riyals, or around 13.2 billion dirhams, by 2030.

The aim is to develop a full hospital network in the kingdom and to align with Vision 2030, which seeks to strengthen healthcare capacity and attract new private operators.

For AKDITAL, this move is also about exporting expertise built in Morocco to a fast-growing regional market, while adapting to Saudi regulations and medical standards.

New prospects for Moroccan healthcare professionals abroad

This first international site sends a signal to Moroccan doctors, nurses and health managers working in the Gulf and beyond. As the this issue and future facilities expand, they could create career opportunities for Moroccan-trained professionals, whether they are coming from Morocco or from Europe.

For now, Moroccans living in the Gulf or travelling to Saudi Arabia can follow developments through official announcements from the group and Saudi health authorities, before deciding whether to include the story among their preferred options for medical care.
