This update focuses on TAMWILCOM business financing. TAMWILCOM’s board of directors has delivered a solid mid-year review in Rabat, underlining a strong momentum in financing support for Moroccan businesses.
TAMWILCOM business financing nears 24 billion dirhams
Meeting on Tuesday 29 September, the board examined TAMWILCOM’s activity over the first half of 2026 and approved its financial results as of the end of June.
Semi-annual indicators show 23.9 billion dirhams in financing mobilised thanks to TAMWILCOM’s intervention, backed by 14.7 billion dirhams in guarantees. More than 31,500 credit operations benefited from this support, including almost 26,000 for businesses.
These figures confirm TAMWILCOM’s growing role in access to credit, in line with its JOSSOUR 2030 strategic roadmap. For Moroccans living abroad who are considering investing or expanding a business back home, this capacity to underpin the banking system is a key signal about the depth of the local credit market.
Microbusinesses and SMEs at the core of the strategy
The heart of TAMWILCOM’s mandate remains its guarantee activity in favour of private companies. In the first half of 2026, this business line helped mobilise nearly 20 billion dirhams in bank loans, backed by 11.5 billion dirhams in commitments.
Very small enterprises and microbusinesses are central to this dynamic. Through the Damane Express scheme, more than 20,000 loans were guaranteed, representing 2.7 billion dirhams in financing. This product targets quick working capital and investment needs of the smallest firms, which often struggle to provide the collateral banks require.
Financing for small and medium-sized enterprises also remains a priority. The Damane Atassyir mechanism, dedicated to guaranteeing working capital loans, helped mobilise 14.5 billion dirhams in credit over the period, with 7.9 billion dirhams in related guarantees.
For Moroccan entrepreneurs abroad who plan to acquire or launch an SME in Morocco, these schemes can make it easier to obtain a loan from local banks, especially when the project owner does not yet have enough collateral or banking history in the country.
Supporting investment, public entities and participative finance
Beyond short-term needs, TAMWILCOM also supports productive investment. The Damane Istitmar scheme covered 2.4 billion dirhams in investment loans, with 1.3 billion dirhams in guarantees for companies that are modernising or expanding their capacity.
The institution also continued to intervene on behalf of public establishments and enterprises. It does so by guaranteeing financing instruments raised from domestic and international lenders, for a total of 2 billion dirhams. This activity helps the state carry large infrastructure and service projects, which can indirectly create opportunities for private investors, including those from the Moroccan diaspora.
The participative finance window DAAMA TAMWIL also shows strong momentum. More than 400 million dirhams in financing were mobilised for businesses, a 72% increase compared with the first half of 2025. This offer targets operators who prefer financing structures aligned with participative finance principles.
A 2027 budget focused on continuity and leverage
Beyond the mid-year performance, TAMWILCOM’s board also approved the budget for the 2027 financial year. The goal is to consolidate the institution’s ability to support the national economic fabric at a time when financing needs remain high.
For Moroccans abroad who are planning a return or an investment project in Morocco, the confirmed trajectory of TAMWILCOM business financing is an indicator of confidence. It shows that public authorities are continuing to rely on this tool to share risk with banks and widen access to credit, a key condition for turning investment intentions into concrete projects.
