MOROCCAN STUDENTS ABROAD
Trips for study or academic placements abroad
Foreign currency payments for these trips cover expenses relating to tuition fees, living costs and rent (and associated charges), with the option of receiving a further transfer one year after the end of your studies.
They are available to Moroccan residents, Moroccans living abroad (MRE) and foreign nationals born to a Moroccan mother or father who do not hold a Moroccan passport or a national identity card.
Amounts
With regard to living expenses, the authorised monthly amounts may not exceed 12,000 dirhams unless supporting documents are provided, issued by an educational establishment, a consulate or embassy of the host country in Morocco, or any other competent authority.
For tuition fees, rent and associated charges (property management fees, taxes and fees relating to the conclusion of the tenancy agreement), the authorised amounts are those stated in the required documents (see Documents to be provided).
Where stipulated in the tenancy agreement, the security deposit may be paid up to a maximum of three months’ rent. This amount must be repaid and transferred by the student to the designated bank within sixty days of the end of the tenancy, or it may be used to pay the corresponding rent and/or service charges.
Payments for accommodation costs, rent and associated charges must normally be made during the month in question. However, it is possible to combine several instalments that are due (but have not yet been paid, either in full or in part), provided that the payments are made during the school year in question. It is also permitted to make advance payments covering a period of up to twelve months.
Terms of payment
You must first choose a bank to which the “Studying Abroad” file will be linked (see Documents to be provided). This bank will be solely responsible for making payments relating to living expenses, rent and tuition fees.
Generally speaking, payments can be made by the bank holding the file (up to the authorised amounts) in the form of transfers to the student’s* account or cheques denominated in foreign currencies.
In the case of tuition fees, these transfers may also be made to the account of the foreign educational institution or to that of an intermediary organisation authorised by it.
It should also be noted that the costs of your stay may be charged to an international payment card issued in accordance with the applicable regulations.
* Payment for the accommodation costs of minors must be made in the name of one of the child’s parents or their legal guardian residing abroad.

To set up a direct debit for the ‘Studying Abroad’ scheme, you must provide the following documents to your chosen bank:
Living costs:
- A certificate of enrolment or provisional enrolment issued by a foreign educational institution, for those studying abroad. In the case of provisional enrolment, the student must produce the certificate of enrolment within four months of the date of the first payment;
- A degree or certificate of successful completion, for transfers relating to the academic year following the completion of studies;
- Supporting evidence (document, certificate, etc.) showing the cost of living whilst studying or undertaking a work placement abroad, for monthly amounts exceeding 12,000 dirhams.
