OTHER REGULATIONS

Exports

No customs formalities

At the end of their temporary stay in Morocco, Moroccan nationals living abroad (MREs) may export certain items without having to go through customs formalities:

  • Products of Moroccan origin, whether handcrafted or otherwise, purchased locally, may be exported without any value restrictions. Proof of payment may be provided by various appropriate means, such as a foreign exchange slip, an international credit card, a traveller’s cheque, etc.;
  • Souvenirs from your travels may also be taken out of the country without having to go through customs formalities;
  • Ornamental rocks, fossil-bearing rocks and/or semi-precious stones may be exported, provided that the quantity does not exceed around ten items.

Subject to authorisation

Certain goods may not be exported from Morocco to a third country without first obtaining authorisation to remove them from the country. This applies in particular to cultural property such as works of art, collectors’ items and antiques. To export these items, it is essential to obtain a certificate issued by the Moroccan Department of Cultural Affairs.
