CIVIL REGISTRY DOCUMENTS AND CERTIFICATES

Extract from a birth certificate

A birth certificate extract is issued by the registry office in the place where the birth was registered or recorded, whether in Morocco or at a consular office. This extract may be issued to the holder of the certificate themselves, as well as to their ascendants, descendants, spouse, guardian, testamentary guardian or appointed guardian, or to any person authorised for this purpose by the holder.
Applications for the extract may be made directly to the relevant registry office or via the online portal for ordering administrative documents at www.watiqa.ma. Consular services may also request copies of this certificate on behalf of Moroccans living abroad (MREs), whether they were born in Morocco or in other consular districts.

  • A document stating the place, the certificate number and the year in which the birth was registered (family record book, an old birth certificate extract, an old full copy of the birth certificate, etc.);
  • Proof of identity for the applicant.
