CIVIL REGISTRY DOCUMENTS AND CERTIFICATES
Individual civil status record
Valid for three months, the individual civil status certificate may be issued by the consular services to any person residing outside their place of birth. It contains the same information as the civil status document used to apply for it (Documents to be provided).
The individual civil status record is equivalent in legal standing to a birth certificate and may be used in its place, except in certain specific cases, in particular for the purpose of establishing:
- Moroccan nationality;
- The National Electronic Identity Card (CNIE);
- Civil status matters before the courts.

- Consular registration;
- A document stating the place, the certificate number and the year in which the birth was registered (family record book, an old birth certificate extract, an old full copy of the birth certificate, etc.);
- Proof of identity for the applicant.
