When registering a civil marriage with the consular services (or via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) that does not mention the two Muslim witnesses, a supplementary certificate, commonly known as an ‘Ishhad Moulhaq’, must be drawn up by the adouls at the consular services. This supplementary document must be attached to the main marriage certificate before it is forwarded to the relevant Moroccan authorities.
Two male Muslim witnesses must be present, each carrying their identity documents.
- Consular registration of one of the spouses;
- An extract from the birth certificate of each spouse;
- Civil marriage certificate (full copy);
- Translation of the civil marriage certificate into Arabic, legalised by the local authorities, for certificates not drawn up in French.
