FAMILY
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF PATERNITY OF A CHILD (ISTILHAQ)
For certain procedures, it is necessary to provide a document acknowledging paternity in order to prove the family relationship.
Consular services generally require this document when registering a birth, particularly if the child was born before the date of the marriage or within six months of that date.
In this case, acknowledgement of paternity may be formalised through an adoula procedure or by means of a handwritten declaration from the father, signed and legalised at the Consulate.

- The child’s birth certificate, where applicable;
- Marriage certificate, if applicable;
- CNIE or extract from the birth certificate (of the father and mother);
- Parents’ identity documents.
